Newborn Behavioral Observation

While babies may not speak their first word for a year, they are born ready to communicate with a rich vocabulary of body movements, cries and visual responses: all part of the complex language of infant behavior. But how can we make sense of a language that we ourselves may not have spoken since our earliest moments?

-Brazelton Touchpoints Center

The Newborn Behavioral Observations (NBO) system is an infant-focused, family-centered, relationship-based tool designed to sensitize parents to their infant’s competencies and individuality, in order to foster positive parent-infant interactions and contribute to the development of a positive parent-infant relationship from the very beginning.
